Infographics have been around for a long time, but are now being employed to better communicate the need for action in the public forum. Of course, such means can also be used to manipulate readers with respect to a particular point of view, as indicated in these alternate depictions of the same event.

Google has a desire to explore how to make visualizations of public data more accessible.

Of course, one of the problems with this is that the more representations you make of datasets, the more likely you are to find things that appear to be significant.
