Weinberg is a treasure. He's written countless software and systems engineering books, and some of my best mentors professionally were trained by him thirty years ago. This is a classic work, just re-released in a 'silver anniversary edition', and still is noteworthy.

Weinberg opens with descriptions of how systems are different from a mechanical model.
