This effort is involved with providing a demonstration of emerging technologies applicable to teams which are collaborating on activities in new settings, operating across geographic distances, or handing off work in a 24/7 environment. Many of these technologies have been proven in a new approach to community collaboration called open source development (for an example of such projects, see this repository). These techniques are now being expanded to other applications, utilized extensively in the open source software community, and are being supported through sophisticated software packages and processes.

The goals of this project are to:

  • prototype functionality required to support collaborative development using techniques consistent with commercial tools and processes, and the open source environment
  • use it in target environments to better understand and validate critical attributes, user interface issues, and strategies for rapid assimilation into new user communities
  • identify additional features which are required in order to address a broad range of applications
